Concept 4 · identity board
An everyday tool for the places you look after. MainsKeeper opens on a place, not a graph: pick Broadwater, Shop, Duplex or Home and see its UPS units, collectors and incidents unfold. The mark is a light left on in a doorway.
Logomark
Two soft arches share a middle jamb, which makes a lowercase “m” and a pair of rooftops or doorways at once. They stand on a rounded porch step. A single lamp sits inside the left doorway: someone is keeping watch here. No ring, bolt, shield, socket or feeder line. It’s built from arcs and one rounded bar, so it stays solid in one colour and at 16 px.
Silhouette. Filled arches over a bar. No thin details, no counters under 2 units at favicon size.
Lamp. The only second colour. In one-colour use it keeps its shape as a separate dot.
Clear space. Two lamp diameters on every side.
Don’t add a glow, rotate the arches, fill the doorways, or put the lamp in the right doorway.
Wordmark and lockups
The wordmark is Bricolage Grotesque at weight 680, converted to outlines with light +10 tracking. The mark sits on the baseline and stands 1.24 × cap height.
Monochrome
Small sizes, in context
These are rendered at actual pixel size, not scaled previews. favicon.svg is drawn on its own 32-unit grid: heavier arches and a larger lamp so the doorway survives at 16 px.
Palette
Coral and apricot are for marks, fills and large type. Body text is always Ink or Ink 2. Status colours are kept well apart from brand coral: critical is a deeper, bluer red, and every status also has its own shape and word. Contrast figures are against Ground #FBF5EE unless noted.
Typography
Bricolage Grotesque for display: soft, a little quirky, with optical sizes. Figtree for body and UI: round, clear, with tabular figures for readings. JetBrains Mono for identifiers and the CLI. All three are SIL OFL and ship in fonts/ as WOFF2 with OFL.txt; system fallbacks are listed in the tokens.
Interface echoes
The mark and the interface are related but separate. The product borrows the soft radii (8–16 px), the warm ground and the slate accent. The coral mark itself never appears as a status.
Estimates get a dashed outline, the same line language as dashed estimate lines in charts. Last-known values carry the dashed-ring glyph. Collector roles are separate badges, never switches: MainsKeeper only watches.
Rationale
Operators think “how’s the shop?” before they think “which metric?”. The whole product starts from a place and reveals its UPSs, collectors and incidents as you open them.
The warm ground and rounded forms make daily checking pleasant. Tabular figures, “Not reported”, “Last known” and dashed estimates keep it exact.
The lamp in the doorway is a promise of watching, not controlling. It fits a monitoring-only product: nothing in the mark suggests a switch.
